HYBRID, INTERACTIVE, INTERNATIONAL

On behalf of Germany’s Federal Environment Agency and the Federal Environment Ministry, Katrin Prüfig moderated a one-day event focusing on “Human Biomonitoring.” Key questions included: What pollutants are people in Europe exposed to – in the air, water, food, our places of work? What health implications does that have? And what can governments do to mitigate the chemical impact on our populations? This fascinating topic was in the spotlight during Germany’s Presidency of the EU Council. The event, which took place in English, was joined by speakers from Africa, Asia and Canada.

#MySocialEurope – VIRTUAL AND INTERACTIVE

Minimum wage, seasonal labour, digital work – those topics were at the heart of discussions concerning work and social affairs during Germany’s Presidency of the EU Council. And the same themes were also up for debate at a hybrid panel discussion in September 2020. Germany’s Minister of Labour, Hubertus Heil, had invited senior EU politicians, parliamentarians, employers’ representatives and trade unionists to take part in a virtual debate. A wider European audience also joined the discussion with polling data and other contributions provided via the events and meetings platform Slido. The highly-interactive debate took place in three languages – all professionally moderated by Katrin Prüfig.

CLIMATE PROTECTION SEEKS TRANSPORT REVOLUTION

There is enough money (in the government’s so-called “climate package.”) There is the will (among many, at least). The question is: where to start? How can Germany push through a “transport revolution” that will drive the country closer towards climate-friendly automobile motors and green transport systems? These big questions were up for debate at the Germany Transport Forum in Berlin. Deutsche Bahn CEO Richard Lutz, Transport Forum President Raimund Klinkner, transport experts and politicians, all met for three short but dynamic panel discussions to explore the best strategies. Katrin Prüfig moderated the forum with such an impressive mix of specialist knowledge and spontaneous humour that some high-ranking participants decided to skip a follow-up appointment and stay on longer than planned.

IKEA EXPERT FORUM: sleep

In a world of work that is increasingly stressful, what is it that we most need to really turn off? How do I relax when I come home from work? How do I keep concerns about work at a distance? How do I stop such thoughts from getting right into bed with me? For most Germans these are questions that affect their fundamental well-being. The specialists gathered at the IKEA Expert Forum in Hamburg were in agreement: we need more sleep! Dr. Katrin Prüfig drew on her background as a student of neuroscience to provide vigorous moderation for the discussions.

17th HESSIAN MOBILITY CONGRESS IN FRANKFURT

Autonomous and digital – How is artificial intelligence impacting our mobility? That was the theme of the Mobility Congress that takes place in Frankfurt every two years. And the gathering looked far into the future – with visionary contributions pointing the way towards the transport concepts and strategies of the decades to come. Katrin Prüfig navigated the debate with outstanding authority throughout the day and into the question and answer session.
